The Taunus is the height – because that’s not only the original name of the low mountain range. Königstein is located on the southern tongue of the Feldberg, the highest elevation of the Taunus.

Due to its appealing proximity to the Rhein-Main area with its financial and cultural metropolis Frankfurt, as well as the regional capitals Wiesbaden and Mainz with their wealth of cultural riches, and the beautiful Rheingau, the Taunus is the ideal place for diverse leisure time activities. Not only do the spa towns Bad Homburg and Bad Soden, or the climatic health resort Königstein warrant a visit, so do the numerous smaller neighbouring villages with their half-timbered houses.
Königstein is perfectly located for day trips into the Taunus: Opelzoo, Hessenpark, Freizeitpark Lochmühle, Saalburg, Kubacher Kristallhöhle and lots of castles and palaces are nearby. Finally, there are scores of hiking and biking trails, including all the way up the Feldberg for those athletically inclined, as much as for the more leisurely paced ones amongst us. Culinary enthusiasts can enjoy upscale international cuisine, as well as hearty Hessian specialties in and around Königstein.
An exciting day can be concluded on the terrace or at the bar in the Hotel Königshof by having the typically Hessian Apple Wine (so called Ebbelwoi), a cold beer or a full-bodied glass of red wine.
