Downhills and trails

The large Feldberg is only a few kilometers away from Königstein. Discerning bikers will find two routes here that are both challenging and fun. In Wehrheim, a little further away, two real highlights are waiting to be discovered by MTB connoisseurs. And those who want to conquer mountains and hills in the Taunus, perhaps with electric support, will definitely get their money's worth. The Hotel Königshof in Königstein is always the ideal starting point.
Opel zoo
Beautifully situated between the two Taunus towns of Königstein and Kronberg, with a breathtaking view of the Rhine-Main area and an ambitious selection of animals, from elephants and cheetahs to penguins, the Opel Zoo is one of the absolute highlights in the Taunus. Great fun with kids, a wonderfully relaxing stroll for two, plus the chance to dine in a really fine restaurant overlooking the enclosures, the Opel Zoo is always worth a visit.
Open air museum Hessenpark
Would you like to experience a journey back in time? Then visit the Hessenpark open-air museum. On this unique area you will find an entire village from the last four centuries on 65 hectares. Old traditions are lovingly kept alive here. Experience up close how people in the Taunus used to live and work. After an exciting tour, you can stop off at the restaurants on the Hessenpark market square or stroll through the pretty shops.
Go hiking

With 21,000 hectares, the largest forest area in the most densely wooded federal state invites you to discover it by hiking. Königstein is an ideal location and starting point. The Taunus attracts with great views, dense forests and wild and romantic valleys. There are plenty of opportunities to stop off and unwind. Themed hiking trails invite you to experience Roman times (Taunus educational trail on the Limes) or immerse yourself in the Middle Ages (3 castle trail from Königstein via Falkenstein to Kronberg).
